The show must go on: Civic Players celebrate 80th anniversary First organized in 1939, the Manistee Civic Players is one of the longest running theater troupes in the State of Michigan. And, on September 14, 2019, the community joined the MCP in celebration of their 80th anniversary milestone with an evening of songs, skits and soliloquies at the Ramsdell Regional Center for the Arts.
The evening celebration began with punch and cake, as well as a silent auction, in the Hardy Hall. Attendees viewed markee signs spanning the eighty years and carefully thumbed through scrapbooks documenting the rich history of the players. White gloves were required to handle to yellowing news clippings and brochures. Afterward, the party moved into the theater for an evening of entertainment, which also included talent from the eighty year span of over 500 stage productions during its history with scenes from: "Annie Get Your Gun", "Beauty and the Beast", "The Wizard of Oz" and "Wicked", just to mention a few. |
